Notes : This male shoveler was found within a small group of mallards. The northern shoveler usually spend winter much more to the south. Note that this one still has its autumn plumage late in december. It is possibly a 1st year male, which get its breeding plumage a bit later in the year. Photo taken on Magog river. Canon 10D, 100-400L IS at 400mm, f/6.3, 1/1250s, iso200, -0.67EV, hand held.
